I am palnning to bring my girlfriiend here in US for we are going to marry. What would be the best way? As we haven't married, how could I bring her to this place. What would you suggest; appy for student visa or how can I bring her in f2 visa without me going to Nepal. Is there any problem if she comes in f1 and change to f2? Or any other alternative way.

If you are here in F1 visa yourself, ask your gf to come here in student visa (f-1) After she arrives here you guys can get married and you can change her visa status from f-1 to f-2.

P.S. Have you ever wondered why they designated the letter F for student visa?

I am in f1 and has been here just 7 months. Is there a way I could bring her in f2 without me going back to nepal? I heard there is some kind of paper work needed to get married this way. I want to move through legal procedures.
And in another case if I get married here then is there any legal proceedings? I mean for getting a court marriage in US between f1 students.

Well if you're F1, you cant invite your gf in F2, F2 is for the dependent of F1 only, needs to be either spouse or children under 21, so legally your gf is not your dependant.

So your best options is to have her apply for F1, and then marry her,but i'd recommentd even if you marry her dont change her status to F2. F2 are not allowed to work or study in a degree seeing program, they can only be a non-degree student in a course that is recreational or avocational.

Go to court, ofcourse a marriage court. some identification is required, and get married.

btw, are you sure F2 cannot enroll in degree seeking program?
i think they can enroll in any degree seeking program but they cannot work [ either on/off campus legally]

One of my friend had the same problem but he managed to bring her in F2 status. We need to show the marriage certificate in the US embassy and in the international office to get her I-20.
If you want her to go to school/work, then coming here in F1 visa is much better than F2. They think F2 visa holder as a visitor, so they can't go to school and can't work ligally. I have some experience how it feels when your spouce is capable and she iis in F2 visa status. I suggest you to apply for F-1.
