Hey guys, my bhinaju is applying for a visa to attend my graduation. I know its kind of risky but we are just taking a shot. I would be grateful if you can give me some tips and do or don't? He has a Master's Degree and currently working as a lecturer on a campus. He has pretty impressive CV filled with experiences with big NGOs/INGOs but i have told him not to focus on his academia or experiences. Any inputs will be highly appreciated!!

Most prove social ties to be back to Nepal. One lecturer ( but they say professor to themselves ) got an invitation to participate in IEEEE conference in TX, he went to Embassy with the invitation letter, Result was obvious, denial by the way he was single. Next time he submitted letter from University, property, bank balance and what ever he could and got the visa. So must satisfy the counselor that he will be back to Nepal.

Thanks bro. My Bhinaju has 2 kids. Yeah thats what I was telling him to prove the social and economic ties to convince the counselor. What could be some letters that would make the counselor less skeptical? He wants to show his experiences while we worked as "Research assistant " with UNDP, Ministry of Nepal, GTZ. Is that a good idea? What could the possible best answer if counselor asks him " why r ya so interested in attending the graduation ceremony ?" Please share ur ideas. Thanks a lot guys!!

I have no personal experience in this matter. However, here are my two cents Tell your bhinaju not to focus at all on his research work with UNDP and stuff. The counselor is probably going to ask him what he does for a living. So he just needs to tell the counselor what his profession is. It will be helpful if he is able to show that it is a permanent job with good benefits and stuff. Tell him not to focus on his educational qualifications much. Besides that I would suggest him to include some kind of a document that shows that he has two kids. May be a nata pramanikaran from the wada or something (just in case the counselor looks at it while flipping through the file). He should also include financial documents showing that he has very strong financial ties to Nepal. Are your parents too attending your graduation? If not, it will be very easy for him to tell the counselor that you really wanted at least one member of the family to be here for your graduation, that's why he is applying for the visa. Just out of curiosity, why is he applying for the visa? Disclaimer: I have no personal experience in this matter. So take my advice with a grain of salt.

I agree with pshrestha78, why bhinaju? if I were visa officer I will ask same question....Why would your show CV for visa application? that is the deadly mistake. Just give good reason why your bhinaju is going and not parents or close relatives. I am not sure...but may be you can show that you bhinaju has been teaching you since childhood and you want to share this moment of success with your person who have always been your teacher and mentor..this may sound stupid though. If your bhinaju have true intention to return back to Nepal, let him be confident and face the interview. Click here to subscribe to pshrestha78's postings. Why do you need Vinaju for your graduation? It is very odd "Dude". When I graduated nobody was with me.

SydBro: You know this already but it is not going to an easy case to make for your wannabe cool bhinaju... I don't mean to discourage but I think that's the reality.

syd_acid, after knowing that your bhinaju will be the only one from your family applying for the visa, I think he has a decent chance of getting the visa if he keeps things simple. By that I mean that, if he doesn't focus too much on his stellar academic and professional work and just simply tells the counselor that since you really want to share your happiness with at least one person from your family and he is the only one who can attend it, he wants to get the visa to be able to share your happiness during the graduation. Good Luck! As far as I am concerned, I think he definitely has a decent chance of getting the visa. Click here to subscribe to syd_acid's postings. sabkosathi bro, thanks for the input. i am keeping my fingers crossed and lets see how it goes. One random question: What do you guys think opting to give the interview in English might play any roles in the possibility of getting a visa? I told him to choose Nepali.

I suggest going completely Nepali and acting in such a way that he would not survive a day in the US without being supported... Someone already pointed out about the academic and professional achievements - let them stay locked in the closet. And yes, resume would be the visa killer. It will seem like he has already got his resume ready for job applications...

What a pity. No one wants to live here. This is our Country. Respect her. And how dare you put such a question here. Sajha should ban this whoever this person is. Post your Bhinaju's name and address and I will help him flee his own motherland. Good Luck.

Bihein Garein जाठो moral police आयो सबै thread मा रस्ट्रियता भर्दै । sync_acid bro its almost impossible to get it done. Apply with your sister too to make it convincing because she is closer to you by blood not bhinaju . If both get visa only he can come if she can't/wish. Still my bhinaju did not get but dad and mom got. Good luck dude
