Thank you Ritthe jyu. I was actually thinking about deleting that part earlier on, thought some might accuse me of stereotyping, but then I assumed it might actually add addtional flavor.

Much appreciated.

Doesn't matter, that was my first stint at sajha, and I agree emotions did run high. If there was any bad blood between us during then, I apologize now.

Grenade,

This is just a short fiction with a blatant sarcasm. I tend to deviate writing a cookie cut story to many's aggravation. Such stories never have a definitive ending. Quite honestly, I wish I could write an epic someday, like few excellent writers in sajha have done in the past, but I lack such caliber, hence make mine short.

Jay,

I am humbled. Thank you very much.

Aviatorchick,

Appreciate that, especially when it comes from a remarkable writer like you. I haven't been able to read any of your posts lately. Agreed, 95% of sajha visitors prefer reading subjects that deal with hatred or sexuality, but then there are 5% of people who believe in aesthetics, arts and literature. I'd request you to write for their sake.

Ojaswi,

I wish I could do as much of a justice to my other fictions, this one, despite flaws had a very controlled flow that made it apt for the readers to read. But appreciate your kind words, I shall try writing more.

All I can say is I love it! Reading the story for the first time felt like watching a mini-movie of a cute and struggling Nepali couple who still believed in achieving the American dream, though their personal dreams of getting a degree and a good job for themselves was becoming less significant by the day..lol..Oh yeah..I also loved your description of the girl getting dressed in the traditional attire and ready for Teej with her counterfeit purse--hinting the "still" important status quo for her lol..--Anyhow, looks like you have observed women getting ready for Teej well too often :)! I was totally able to visualize so many ladies like Jini that I know with your description! So, Great JOB. Very realistic and well written story..enjoyed it thoroughly.

Thank you..

You are very welcome Paulinadidi,

While it is a sad situation that many Nepalese students on a visa who struggle to maintain their student status, it is also a sharp contradiction that they live larger than most of their south asian neighbors. Hence the status quo. My cousin in Boston struggles to pay his tuition every six months yet cannot wait to purchase a new ipad.

Also, speaking of cultural practices, teej, in particular has taken a dramatic turn in establishing itself as one of the prominent Nepalese festival - even more than Dashain and Tihar. Partly it is because of the omnipopular facebook which seems to be frequented by people of fairer sex more often (I wish I could structured this sentence in a different way, I sound like a darn sexist) and cannot wait to upload all party pictures, also partly because it is the flagrant 'red' color, which is so conspicuous, I simply cannot help but notice.

Having said that, my observation comes from those incidents and plethora of facebook photos I come across during this time of the year.

Thanks for reading, it means a lot to me when a quality poster like you chips in her views.
