Well maybe Fox news is bias and support conservative values. But if you have watched MSNBC recently it is way far biased that fox. If you won't agree just watch MSNBC show from 5 to 9pm, you will see yourself. Just yesterday, Chris Matthews, host of hardball called west virginal voters racist because they didn't voted for Obama. Ok O'reilly is rude to his guest but he is not afraid to invite who disagree with his views. On countdown with Keith Oberlman, its the same Newsweek people as guest every day and all they do (Keith and his guest) is praise Obama and call bush names. Now I'm not a big fan of Bush and Republicans but common, even a blind and deaf person can see and hear that MSNBC is way bias and far left and is "air America" version of TV.
"Ok O'reilly is rude to his guest but he is not afraid to invite who disagree with his views."
I don't agree with some other things you wrote, but "O'Reilly not being afraid of guests" and "inviting" them goes much more than the realm of words that you mean them to imply. Who owns the show? Bill O'Reilly (or/and his bosses). Who is loud and vicious? Bill O'Reilly. Who talks more on O'Reilly's interview session? O'Reilly himself!
If you can bash someone in your own show and call yourself a "professional interviewer," there is no more stupidity than that.
Just take a look at the video I posted where he interviews a democratic mayor, Rocky Anderson. More than half of the interview session he spends calling the interviewee names (foolish, cooky, stupid, liar). I haven't seen anybody that is this vicious and blatantly attacks his guests.
Slackdemic, I'm not here to defend O'reilly. I even admit he is rude to his guest so there is no argument on this. My only point is there are other netork and ancors who are far more bais than Fox News and O'reilly. Also don't forget Fox news and Factor are #1 cable news and show and there is a reason for it.
1) When I first started to watch him, my first impression about the guy was quite positive--I quite liked him and his arguments, although at many times I found him pompous and full of himself--not to mention, offensively insulting to his guests and his views too much swayed towards ultra-left.
2) There was a phase, when I felt, he was too offensive for anyone to bear with. I decided, may be by not watching his shows, I was doing justice to the guests who were being belittled for no rhyme or reason.
3) Over the last year or so, I have begun to feel that this guy should not be taken too seriously. I don't know if it is just me, but I think that he is paid to purposely make false/provocative statements to attract viewers and most of the time, it's clearly (at least for me) written over his face.
So I still watch his shows, as they give his guests a good platform to fight hard against the odds from O' Reilly and say what they want to while their patience and limit of their tolerance are being tested. It's fun to watch how thick-skinned his guests are.
There were few occasions, I felt he was made to remain in balance, if not owned, by his guests--Michael Moore was one of them. The other guests, that I remember, were: Stephen Colbert and my personal favorite Jon Stewart.
Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert and Michael Moore, in that order, with O' Reilly:
I think he makes purposefully provocative statement because he is one of the thick headed people when it comes to war and believes what he says. Any people who opposes the war or gives negative preview of war, he has a habit of saying anti american which i don't like. I have the same reason as Loote's for watching the show every day expect the starting part how i used to hate him, and it is surprising at least for me how he has been staying neutral in this presidential candidate election. Right now i can stand Oreilly over Hannity.
yes ss74K. at the end of it all, people love to see heated arguments, controversies and guests grilled to death. let's face it. O'Reilly is in the business for this long for this very reason although his sour attitude (deliberate or otherwise) embarks yellow journalism in the field. long as he and his shows are popular among his viewers whether they be his lovers, haters or neutral viewers, he is least bothered about it IMO.
I understand what you are saying, Jonny. Thanks for your input!

Agreed, Loote bro! Yes, I too have repeatedly watched his interview with Michael Moore and I think only Michael Moore (or Stephen Colbert, for that matter) type people can go vis-Ã -vis with O'Reilly. Despite being "thick-skinned" on their logic, I still feel sorry for people like Ron Paul and Rocky Anderson who accept his invitation just to be bad mouthed.
Even if we were to believe his shows are made to be provocative to get more people's attention, the initial video, which was taken behind the scenes, clearly resontes with his attitude that we find him on his daily show.
slack bro, some of these bloopers that they show on TV about their shows are just made up. but you could be right.
i don't deny that O'Reilly is a bonehead or acts like one, but his shows draw more attention than many other shows on TV.
btw, i might have missed this but what made him release the video to public where he goes berserk against the staffer of Obama? there was no video evidence on that apart from his own i believe. another publicity(?) stunt akin to his nature perhaps?
were there other versions? hmmm.. i thought he deliberately released it himself to show he is tougher against the tough ones as he always tends to do. :D
Here is a new (unrelated) video from the last nights "Hardball" program where the announcer Chris Matthews thrashes right-wing pompous, loudmouth ass Kevin James. It's a must watch. Wait till about first 2 minutes when the things start to heat up.
Journalism is neither about best rating/worst rating nor about entertaining/boring. It is about delivering unbiased news based on facts and supplementing it with views from, subject matter experts if you will, guests who are provided enough freedom to express themselves without the host rushing to utter soon-to-be-patented "SHUT UP!" pet-line.
If you are considering the deciding factors that I have just despised above then I think you are still under the Jerry Springer Show hangover back from the 90s.
