how do u know some stock is under valued or over valued?

Market Value= Price of the Stock

1. Over Priced when : Market Value > Book Value
2. Under Priced when : Market Value < Book Value

- to understand more about FINANCIAL RATIO ANALYSIS, i recommend SECURITY ANALYSIS by Benjamin Graham ! (its the bible of investment)

Oh woooh hang on mate, Benjamin Graham from 1800?? I was talking abut Benjamin Graham from (1894-1976), who was Prof. in Columbia Business School. NO NO I don't want to be Buffett, I am HAPPY OF WHO I AM. It just happened that I'm trying to Understand Graham's PHILOSOPHY  while Buffett and many others have already Mastered it!!

SPDR (Ticker: GLD) is ETF [its not a company] so it cannot be termed OVER or UNDER priced, as it carries the value from the intrinsic asset( i.e 1/10 of  REAL GOLD - Au).(PLEASE let me know how you found out its OVER VALUED?formula you used? I would love to learni new methods and open to new ideas)  If you ask me is the GOLD PRICE INFLATED?? ( Oh hell yeah that's what I FEEL (hence I posted the VIDEO above)

we both are not in Fiduciary Relation hence I avoid talking about my portfolio.

Coming back to MEDIEVAL, I strongly believe History shapes the MAN(or WOMAN)!!

I believe in "Standing on the Shoulders of  Giants" , this is what helped me avoid the CROWD MENTALITY and protected me from the financial disaster!! Stock market collapsed in Medieval days too from Roman era  to  Tulip Mania (~1637) or South  Sea Bubble (~1720) [ Sir Issac Newton lost considerable fortune in this Stock Market collapse] , Wall Street Crash of 1929, Asian Market collapse of 1998, IT Bubble of 2001 , more recently housing market bubble of 2008!! SO HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF FROM DISASTER??Answer is simple my Friend UNDERSTAND WHY THEY CRASHED AND HOW TO AVOID IT!!
 
And I took refuse on Philosophy of Graham (and others too) , which has helped me a lot { may it be Medieval knowledge}

Remember gold standard evaporated long time ago and gold is just a mere yellow piece of brick.. it will not bear any value to a consumer unless it is made into jewelry .....be practical why the fouq would you buy some metals stored in switzerland or uk.... and etf is not a good way to go for new investors.......talk about brokerage fees, low volume and settlement issues and liquidity can always put small investors like nepalese at high risk......... also talk about the money that is being pumped in the economy....for stabilizing it......once that is done aren't we gonna have a bubble......

Please explain me about "GOLD CONVERSATION/INVESTMENT", I am kinda confused as you have mentioned "why to buy" and again in another para mentioned common sense Gold bullion  and reference to GOLD Price inflated(should invest ??), I m seriously confused!! Please do simplify!!

I used to be a regular here but these days I come to see if there are any stock related threads. Furse, you are just making a fool of yourself. I'm assuming that most of the people are here to learn about stock investments and you come and hijack a thread and you still manage to call others a rookie. Show us how good you are then. I have made more than 30% this month and I have posted it at nepalitrader.blogspot.com. I have posted my P&L statements here many times too.

Leave this thread to people that want to discuss stocks.

I had an opportunity to meet Mr. Buffett. He mentioned that he learned a lot from Ben Graham. Ben Graham looked for margin of safety. Buffett is doing the same thing. He is not necessarily looking for the cheapest stocks but he is looking for something with a margin of safety.
