"के प्रश्न हो सर?" तिनै जनाले सोधेछन.

Jailor : "ल ध्यानले सुन!! मेरो हात मा २ वटा ढाका टोपी छ र ३ वटा भादगाउले टोपी छ. Guard! हरेकको टाउकोमा एउटा टोपी लगाइदे!!"
Guard : "कुन टोपी sir ?"
Jailor : "Randomly छानेर एउटा लगाइदेओ!!"

हरेकको टाउको मा कि त भाद्गौले कि त ढाका टोपी लागेछ.
Jailor : "अब यिनी हरुको पट्टि फुकलिदेओ"

सबैको आँखाको पट्टि खुलेछ. एकले अर्काको टाउकोमा के छ हेर्न सक्ने, तर आफ्नो टाउकोको टोपी चै हेर्न नमिल्ने. अरु केहि बोल्न पनि नपाउने.

Jailor : "ल तर्के! तेरो टाउको मा कुन टोपी छ? Guess गर्छस कि पास?"

तर्के: "पास."

Jailor : "थुइक्क मोरा. ल ठिकै छ, त भन धर्के! Guess कि पास?"

धर्के: "पास."

फर्के चै भाठो रहेछ. तेस्ले के जवाफ दियो होला?

Okay, I have another method for the first puzzle:

Let's assume that F was wearing Dhaka topi.

The only possible scenario in which first person T would be confused in this assumption is if he saw Bhad gaule in D. Since there are only two Dhaka topis.

Second person D knows this so if this was the case, he would be able to answer quite easily. Hence for the second person D to be confused F must be wearing Bhad gaule topi, otherwise there would be no confusion at all.

This is a fictitious story, any resemblance to the name of Sajha characters should be taken as a blatant infringement of privacy.

Hey Kiddo. I tried to get all four friends at top and the total added up to 700 pounds(i guess $200 fine assuming first 500 pound is free) when everybody was on top. If this is correct answer then i will explain how, if not then i ll try to mimimize the fine.

Javier, even with the wrong info there, your logic isn't complete. Every time somebody comes down, his/her weight should be added to the total as it counts as a trip. Anyway, go over the question again.

SO the lift opens automatically on top floor and ground floor. To close it and get it moving, you have to be inside the lift. No tricks.

So, Mr. Javier, you just ruined a puzzle. This wasn't a hard puzzle, just a simple trick.Most people answer it by sending Ambroisa (the lightest) down every single time. Nobody even got a chance to do that and you solved the puzzle.

Next time, maybe a little harder puzzle for you MR.

I don't think you are getting my assumption. I am starting with an assumption from the outset. "Let's assume" F (third person) was wearing Dhaka topi than the only possible situation in which first person would be confused is if second person was wearing Bhad gaule. Because there is only two dhaka topis available in the pool. Second person knows this, so if he had seen dhaka topi (as per my assumption) in F means he knows he is wearing a bhad gaule, as per the confusion of first person. Therefore, F is wearing a bhad gaule topi. Does that make sense?

Problems with assumption is, well they are assumptions. To solve a puzzle, you have to view every possible scenarios, that means you have to assume every single possibility. You assumed one possibility and that's where I saw the flaw.

You're right, with the onset assumption, your logic makes sense (I totally overlooked the critical assumption you put). But, I hope you understand that one single assumption leads to nothing. I could easily assume, two guys were wearing D and solve the problem right there.

Kiddo, first of all, I think you are better than this.

Assumptions are essential part of solving lots of brain teasers. There is absolutely nothing wrong with assuming things. However, you have to be able to back it up. You cannot just willy-nilly say you could easily solve problems by assuming things. Try it and then give me the logic that makes sense and then I will tell you whether I think your logic is sound and therefore correct.

I don't want to keep harping here about assumptions, but I think you have to read up on it and see how tied up it is to fundamental logic and mathematics in general.

You could also use it in this sense that, if someone here says Kiddo is a guy and says if Kiddo was a girl....and gives solid reasoning to back it up. I would find it hard to believe that this kind of logical reasoning through assumptions is anything but wrong.
