After gaining an upper hand in Mahakali treaty and similar treaties under the rule of Nepali Congress and Nepal Communists – at the expense of Nepalese people-, India was already fantasizing about similar benifits from Karnali River as well. HOWEVER, King Gyanendra strongly took his stance and outrightly disapproved of any treaty that can harm Nepal. This made India angry and that is why it manipulated the strings to create an alliance of Maoists and said political parties. It is understood that India has gained assurance from the alliance for a successful execution of the treaty regarding Karnali, and India is reciprocating by supporting the alliance. Still, King Gyanedra is standing solid as the mighty Himalays, and not giving away any ground to the Indians. India is not at all concerned about democracy. If it was, it would have voiced its concern about Bhutan (and the displaced Bhutanese), Sikkim, Pakistan, China to name a few. Well said Mr. Shrestha. Bhoonte should focus on his principles that may bear positive results and ignore these people with different aliases who keep on hounding him for his positive attitude. I agree to Bhoonte that we should be proud of our King, but i dont agree with his vitriolic words directed towards some users. Leave the bad things behind. And keep up the good work, Bhoonte, like you have done in educating people in Sajha about the evil deeds of our leaders after 1990.

and yeah..about the King, he still stands as the only priority, because no one has given me a better solution yet. "Democracy is run by a system" that's a lot a bull man. It is run by people, it is power to the people. Nepal is not ready for that. Uneducated former street fighters like GP Koirala runs democracy and organized crimes at the same time in Nepal. All u guys do is criticize King. Military is unjust..that another bull..wat abt the maoists. Compare the opposite side and then come to conclusions guys. Man i couldn't say this any better..Nepal does not need democracy (coz democracy becomes oligarchy when it reaches Nepal) or need to overthrow the King. It's all a waste of time for everybody. All that is needed, but very tough, is for the citizens to work sincerely and educate the younger generation. And of course, we should stop being barriers and let others do their jobs. See wat i mean? i'm telling others not to criticize too much and still do the same thing myself. I hope to get control over that pretty soon.

Birbhadra..tell me ur age next time u write something here. where the hell did u come up with the idea that old men don't get girls. you're just stupid. Using the "F" doesn't make ur point any stronger dawg. generally young women look for older men, coz they have the security young men often don't have. apart from that, older men also have more experience. don't think older men are losers buddy, they control you in such a way that u never feel it.

I seriously don't understand when things like Mahakali treaty are talked about. These kinds of treaties are of real big magnitude. We have bunch of highly trained engineers, economist and geologist and all the stuff working for years on one single treaty. Its too techinical subject guys. You can't make a judgement on the merit of a treaty by reading three or four politically biased newspaper articles written by non-technical journallists.Do hell with King G man.He is never going to stand for Nepal and Nepalese people.

So the massacres are behind us i see. This post is very enlightening on where today's youths stand on the political front. Love our kings indeed. " He shall be flawed but blindly we shall follow" Is that how it is? gone with the wind..

very good answer, xx-nepal. Your articulate answer should educate some of the non-believers why democracy is not the priority at the moment in Nepal.

What our country currently needs is a middle path..Polarization to monarchism and maoist extremes is not a solution and it only splits the country. As one can not eliminate completely the other...its better the king invite all the parties and the maoists leaders in a round table, talk several days behind the closed door and find out the solution..The king must say" Hey guys, common, let's talk..what do you want and what you can give me, lets go for a negotiation".When you talk face to face, its different ..that's the thing has to do as he is the one sitting on the coil of snake. Let the snakes be free and get rain for the country!!!

Your articulate answer should educate some of the non-believers why democracy is not the priority at the moment in Nepal. There goes your contradiction again! If democracy is not the priority in Nepal right now and if you are supporting Gyanuchaa because of that, he should stop saying he is trying to bring back the country into democratic path. He should just say that a dictator is what a country needs now (because "peace" is the priority). He should stop lying to people. That's all!

nono M.P. that's not my point. It's the basic needs satisfaction first, then education, and then Democracy.
