Hi,
I recently bought a used HTC phone. I did a factory reset and have inserted my SIM card. Now I am getting "Invalid IMEI" message. I cannot make and recieve any calls.

Are you trying to used a unlocked phone or locked on. Tmobile phones dont work on Atnt and so on. You might need to unlock it. Goodle unlock for the particular model.

I bought it from a guy I met in the gym. He had put an on sale ad on the notice board.
He and I have the same provider.
If I dial *#06#, I get invalid IMEI.

It might be carrier locked then. Probably a stolen phone or your friend found it.
