I am planning to take liquor( Red level and Red wine) as gift to Nepal. Is it safe to take it from USA? Will there be any customs charges? What is the limit one can carry, if any?
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

lalitash ............i suggest you buy these liquors when you reached nepal. you can buy them in ktm international aiport.........duty free shop. this way you would not have trouble carrying these liquor especially during transit.

I had bought two bottles of LIquor in Hongkong during transit. When i got to KTM i went into the dutyfree shop and asked how much liquor i could take they said I could take as much as I want. Isn't it 2 bottles per person? anyways I ended up buying 4 more bottles. Alcohol always makes good gifts in Nepal.

By law you are allowed only 1.5 Ltr, but if you go through green channel, they hardly check, but if checked, may be few bucks will do the job. Don't even buy anything in the Nepal duty free, as the price is double than outside. You can buy every single Liquor or wine in Kathmandu or Pokhara.
