I came across a thread - why we hate indians.. and made me think this .. But, Truth is truth.. If we analyze seriously.. "WE HATE OTHER NEPALI" at individual level. Though there is a feeling of unity at collective level, but we are always desperately busy on leg-pulling of other Nepali. You dont need to go anywhere - just scan through few sajha threads, how the people are responding the topic, or look at your friends circle - how is it going? Are not we trying to find someone's weakness and point it out in negative way? Think once seriously - How many times till now, have you really and seriously tried to inspire others (out of your family) correcting their mistakes in constructive way? And how many times you enjoyed or make it a source of self-consolation of someone's misfortune ?? There are lots of us, who worry at others success more than that we do at our own failures... AND THIS IS THE TRUTH - WE HATE EACH SINGLE NEPALI at individual level. Actually we love none other than our family, kids and wife.

I have to agree with ANS on this. Hating everyone but yourself and your family has become our national trait. Thats how we have been conditioned. Changing place wont help. Our ancestors were carrying that trait, we have inherited that and if we still dont work on it we will for sure pass that tait on to our future generations. My personal analysis on "WHY we like to hate" This statement that follows has become our part time/full time job"A Nepali spends his life in reasoning on the past, in complaining of the present, in fearing future", because the caretakers have given us that trait. Politicians who have most influences in media and our normal life are seen bickering, obstructing, fighting, quarreling, disagreeing, and complaining all over, repeatedly. They dont seem to learn. They influences us so much that we start thinking to ourselves whats point being a Nepali.WE then start looking for excuses to have this false sense of pride anyways. WE look to downgrade neighbors, neighboring countries and other who seem to have direct connection with us. Bring them down, we'll appear upper at least, not necessarily we'll rise but at least we'll seem upper. WE apply that into our daily life activities. Seeing others around us rising fills us with jealousy, hatred and envy. Botomlines 1. Inherited and repeated usage of complain, hate, because of self-doubt, is hard at work in our mind. and that repeated action has become a daily habit 2 The more we are complaining, the better we are feeling about ourselves. It's nothing but our way of showing us how messed up the rest of the world is and, by comparison, we're not that messed up. 3. It usually boils down to wanting to feel better about yourself, your experience and your circumstance. Complaining and hating others won't get you there. Deliberately finding something good about yourself, your experience and your circumstance will get you to that place of feeling better. rgds...

ANS when people come up with thread like this, then only I hate .......WTF man........do you hate your friends?? Do you hate any Nepali if he/she walks pass by you? Do you want other Nepali in Nepal or outside to suffer?? Don't you help any Nepali if they are in trouble?? What the hell are you talking about?? You see people fighting in sajha....they/we fight because our ideas are different...that's what sajha is about, bringing differents ideas together. Sometimes one's views are very offending to individual, that's why they fight?? We/they don't fight with Nepalese just for the sake of fighting or because we hate each other just for being Nepali....just change your attitude and in no second you will see world changed around you.......I personally don't see Nepali hating each other...........I have been around with different kind of peoples ( Nepali) but the reason you gave doesn't matches with any of hate I have found. All actually boils down to individual person's attitude........not to the Inherited behaviour of Nepalese peoples.......you really need to be around good peoples man.........Right now I am not hating you because you are Nepali or because any of your 1,2,3 reasons but for the idea you are presenting which doesn't make sense to me.....Jai Nepal

What?? What kind of friends do you have? Sajha boards are hardly indicators of real-world social behavior. It's like people constantly fighting on youtube... the anonymity somehow seems to bring the worst out of people. Even when I meet random Nepalis in real life, we always get along great. Of course jealousies can sometimes develop between people, but i think it's in the minority the number of people who would go out of their way to bring others down. That's from my experience anyway, so explanations against it are hardly going to change my view.

It is a universal law of paradoxes of human nature There is a good relation with the same language people, but depending on the situation one group fight with the another group of the same people. At the same time the smaller groups are also fighting with each other. At the last, there is a fight of brothers in a family and even husband and wife. Again at the same time, if there is any inconsistency in behavior or relation of one continent to another, all the broken groups are together again.

Nepali seems to have a bird brain. Instead of appreciating the new knowledge they acquire they attack you. Instead of doing research if the said "topic" is true and if it hold any validity with support from scholars, they think it is aggregating with false information. If Nepali never tries to comprehend and keep denying the fact, then Nepal will never go forward.

What ANS is saying is only partially correct. Reveling in the misfortune of others is not just a Nepali thing, but a global one. The germans even had a word for it: "schadenfreude". We think all Nepalis are like that, but Nepalis are all we know. What do we really know about the rest of the world? I bet they are the same way or worse, and it's probably more an individual nature than pecific to a culture. What I do think is true about our culture is the "leg pulling" phenomenon if you choose to label it as such. And I think if you boil it down, it's just the "survival of the fittest" instincts kicking in. There is so little resources to go around, we instinctively do anything we can to make sure we get it before it's gone. Unfortunately it is the result of AND cause of our poverty. I bet it's the same situation in every impoverished countries. Point is, it's not about being Nepali, it's about being human and being poor. Let's try not to give "Nepali" such a bad rep. Pride is all we have.

ANS, If you ask 30 millions Nepali (or more) around the world every single person says the same thing. नेपालीले नेपाली को खुट्टा तान्छ but nobody points a finger on another person saying ‘this is the person who pulls another Nepaleses' leg. Now I believe that whoever says this quote, that’s the person is ‘the leg puller’. I am tired of this kinda comment. I hear this in Nepal, USA, in Europe everywhere I go. There is no such a thing ‘leg puller’. It’s called ‘jealousy’. This is a human nature. If somebody is jealous of your success (pulls your leg in your word), he/she is not your friend or family. Stop hanging out with them. Take care everybody.

I believe that there are three states of mind. Negative, positive and neutral. The topic itself is a character of a negative state of mind and there are already comments from the positive perspectives. I appreciate it, because one who does not love Nepal and Nepalese does not love himself too.He who not love himself how can he love others ? I promote unity and love. To connect words in action is not that easier and I wish all positive thinkers in Sajha will also love fellow Nepalese at least in this sajha.
