hi fellows, I keep on messing up my interview with these two questions: what's your strength and weakness. I can claim to have numerous strengths but can't even figure out my single weakness. I am a biological science graduate, if anyone could suggest me with some good and remediable weaknesses will be really appreciated. Thanks a bunch for your help!

Honesty is the best policy. So be honest and tell them one of your weakness and you are working on something to overcome it.
The only reason they ask this question is to know ability to evaluate yourself.
And know everyone has some weakness so don't tell something like "I'm perfectionist".

My answer to that has always been: "I tend to overwork myself and stay late for work if the work needs to be completed, because of that I miss out being with my friends, family etc or I had to work during Xmas last year because all my collegues took time off and I was the one to cover and because of that I don't/didn't get much time ti socialize and i think that is one of my weakness."

seriously i did...it presented my weakness as an advantage for the employer to consider picking me for the job. it's a weakness that further strengthens your position.

Mushroom's answer seems to be specifically intended for grabbing a job whether or not it is realistic. It is very clear that his story is fabricated. In one of my interviews I said like this: I am weak physically but very strong and confident with my technical knowledge. I am very strong and optimistic when confident and commitment come to play.

as an interviewer how can you tell that my story is fabricated??? maybe i did do all the stuff i said i did, given that i provide references and they can easily verify the things i say. In my opinion as long as you can give an answer that is out of the ordinary and is creative it doesn't matter. Yeah i agree with you that my answer is leaning towards getting the job...but isn't that what you are trying to do??

thanks you all, Magicmushroom that was a good one. My friends used to call me gafadi back home as i used to come up with these sorts of answers/idea, but here in America people really want to hear you bragging. Never keep it low on the throw!
