Gurkhas' bravery is not myth. The slogan 'Better die than be coward" still remains intact whether it is Kargil or Helmand province or just Indian railways. If you don't believe ask Dip Prasad Pun or Bishnu Shrestha. Bishnu Dai, my salute to you. You are a real gorkha.

I think Gorkha refers to Durban (home security) only part of fun in India. Gorkha does not refer to indian Army. If you ask any Indian, they will say there are only two brave Regiments in Indian which #1 as Gorkha Regiment and #2. Punjabi Regiments.
Those Durban which falsely refer as Gorkha is way different than Gorkha (Indian Army).

His courage and achievements are praiseworthy. I was certainly excited with the news, however, in the end, I felt some odds on the news coverage.
1) The TV reporter/commenter is trying to over-exaggerate the story with unnecessary stress, which is hard to swallow.
2) The entire story published in Nayapatrika tells that Bishnu was emotional after getting called by the victim "Army waale bhaiyaa mujhe bachaao". He actually was ignoring the whole looting and would have never acted if the looter did not have tried raping, or he was called for help.
3) When Bishnu was fully charged wih his energy, he was actually senseless. He did not know what happened, but kept moving his Khukuri randomly around him. When he was stopped, then he realized that 3 already dead and 8 more injured. It does not show his skill, neither was he aware of what he was doing. झ्वाँकले आँखा नदेखेको बेला धमाधम छप्काइ दे छ सोमले । खल्लास । Thas how his bravery is established. However, I am unaware if that is the meaning of true bravery.
Despite all the above comments, I fully believe that he deserves all those three medals (and many more) for whatever he did. I am however not sure if he already won those medals or he just got recommended for the medals. The minute details indicates that it is just "recommendation", which may not be the awards but the news media is already claiming him as an award winner. Did I miss something?
My most aspiration is that he decided to fight for saving a girl despite knowing that there were 35-40 people he was fighting against. He was slightly shaken after finding that there were more looters than those 8-10 people whom he already had exchanged his punches. To get over that feeling and jumping on so many people with just a khukuri does really need "Gorkhali" determination, which he has. Hats of to Mr. Bishnu Shrestha.

Very Brave Indeed. If Indians are giving such awards to Nepalese means its a rare incident, worthy of praise.
But this media thing is so funny and cheap. That news man sounds nothing more than a joker. Tehi kuro ramri sanga garay ko bhaya, ra repeat ka repeat nagaray ko bhaya, sun ma sugandh hunay thiyo.
Tara yo shrestha jee ko bahaduri chahi, sadhai yaad ma basnay bho.

Why so much repetition of the same details about the story. Can't they say what happened from beginning to end and just stop? It is a 7 minute maximum story and look how long they took to narrate, lol. These people need some lessons on journalism.
