hey guys i am posting this thread so that you guys don't have to go through what i did. i would suggest no body to graduate in spring semester (may). coz by then H1 quotas are filled.i am graduating this may i still have 1 month to graduate. i have a company willing to sponsor me for h1 and i had everything set but.....but.. but... i could not file H1 since the cap reached, just the next day on the April 3rd.thats sad.to file it next year my opt is going to end on may next year, taking the 60 days grace period will give my an extension to stay here for another 2 months that is till july but i have to be in status until October which means i have to join somewhere (back to f1)again till i make it for h1. that sucks.

Don't know if its true but was told that the dhoti consulting companies provides H1 visas even if its too late...try to find one around your area or ask here in sajha. Maybe someone with more info could help you out.

i heard about that too... but fail to understand how they do that.. anyways, smyta, its not the matter of the gap anymore.. its the matter of quota itself... its gonna be same thing next year too... there will be more than double applications for H1B... even if you do something to bridge the gap, you will need to have good luck to make in the quota!!! SUCKS!!! they should definetely increase the quota....

Ya thats true ... best time is December .... If you are done with course work, and have job offer, you still can start OPT from OCT/NOV and start working. This way, there will be no gap between OPT-H1B.

Dhoti companies might apply for H1B even its too late, but you need to be in status. If you have done undergrad, you could join some test preperation corurse ( GRE, GMAT) in kAPLAn and extend your F1 status for another six months. But you have to spend 20hrs a week in KAPLAN. KAPLAN is better than joining grad school.

It is a huge problem for now and next year also. My schedule as per university program is to graduate on next may. but i could not succeed to pull it back to december. I talked to every professor, dept head and even to dean with result of bare hand. They know this H1 matter also. But they did not allow me and i have to wait for next may only for one subject. I hate these discriminating universities. The decision of prof. is final and my guide professor can not do anything for me as he is junior among faculty. So if there is any posiibilty to get transfered to another Univ. with the target of graduating in dec.( just 9 credit hours remaining). If anybody has idea, please help me

Thank you smyta But there is least possibility of CPT. there are no sponsers/companies in this area related to my job. And very few cases exist here. I was trying for oncampus job also but after denying my request to graduate in dec , the professors are angry with me due to my request which made a little difficulty in decision in dept. And i have heard that there are still many quotas remaining for this session in H1 but who knows for next year.
