Hi guys, When I read this story, I thougt this is too much, Matrika Yadav should get punished for his action. But after I read his statement today in a Newspaper, I realize that may be he did the right thing, corruptions is spreading like cancer, we would be leaving Bangladesh behind soon.

I know and I support that nobody should take law in their hand excpet the authorized personnel, but some time you have to close your eyes for sake of society and country.

काठमाडौं, (नेस) वन तथा भू-संरक्षणमन्त्री मातृका यादवले स्थानीय विकास अधिकारीलाई आफूले ट्वाइलेटमा थुनेको स्वीकार्दै त्यस्ता भ्रष्टलाई थुन्नु नै पर्ने बताउनुभएको छ।

व्यवस्थापिका-संसद्को हैसियतमा बुधबार बसेको संविधानसभा बैठकमा सभासद्हरूले उठाएको जिज्ञासाको जबाफ दिँदै मन्त्री यादवले भन्नुभयो- भ्रष्टाचारीलाई थुन्नैपर्छ र म वन मन्त्रालयमा छउन्जेल कुनै पनि हालतमा भ्रष्टाचार हुन दिन्न।’

र्ँकर्मचारी थुनेको विषयमा छानबिन हुन्छ भने होस्। त्यसमा मेरो पनि सहयोग रहन्छ’ -मन्त्री यादवले अन्य भ्रष्ट कर्मचारीलाई पनि थुन्ने काम हुने चेतावनीसमेत दिनुभयो।

भ्रष्ट, फटाहा कर्मचारी होस् वा अरू कोही त्यस्ता कसैलाई पनि आफूले बाँकी नराख्ने बताउँदै मन्त्री यादवले भन्नुभयो- दुगन्धित व्यक्तिलाई दुगन्धमै राख्नुपर्छ भनेर ट्वाइलेटमा थुनेको हो।’गल्ती गर्नेलाई कारबाही गर्दा मैले कारबाही भोग्नुपर्छ भने म तयार छु। तर म जहाँ रहे पनि भ्रष्टलाई छोड्दिनँ’ -मन्त्री यादवले भन्नुभयो।

प्रहरीलाई जिम्मा लगायो भने प्रहरीसमेत मिलेर भ्रष्टलाई एस्कर्टिङ’ गर्छ र सफाइ दिन्छ। त्यसैले आफैले कारबाही गर्नुपरेको हो’ -उहाँको थप भनाइ थियो।

I completely agree with you man. I think pyaari kt has very close relative like brother or dad corrupt. That is why she is so much worried about getting locked in the toilet. Moreover, the one by the ratna park. I would say even if my own son is corrupted I would want him to be locked up in the toilet.

    "Toilet maa euta civil servant laai lock gareko raamro bhanne eh bidhwaaan kuttaaa haru....timro baau aama pani faschhan yasto murkha terrorist ko fandaaaa maa"  wat  wud u call this statement??his judgement  or his fear that his crooked,debauched kins would be  locked up.No matter whoever the person,if sb abuses the authority  he/she deserves  a penalty.

'What Yadav did was not the solution' is what most people against Yadav's action have been voicing.
You are right in the sense that if we just lock up corrupts inside toilets in the long run, then we won't be any corruption-free than now.
But Yadav got what he wanted. He got the media attention......I would be more shameful to be in Ghimire's position right now than Yadav's shoes. And he got to humiliate Ghimire.
For what's bad? To be known as a ghusyaa LDO who repeatedly ignored a miniter's order, upsetting the locals in the area and was locked up in a toilet for the utterly asinine behavior.....or to be called a 'jungali' Minister, using somewhat unlawful measure (I don't even know if it is a crime at all) to show the evil corruption that is draining our country day by day, garnering an anti-corrupt name tag under his belt.
I would go with the latter. What do you think?

The point again is why can't we have an investigation whether how and who was corrupt. He is a minister, he has power, he should have followed that lawful path. If he was not a minister, and some Robinhood, I would have clapped. But how the hell one knows who is corrupt without fair explanation, Mr. Ghimire must be given ample opportunity to defend himself. He should have been arrested and taken to court if there was any proof against him. BUt the unpredictable minister thought by locking in bathroom, he will stop corruption. What a shame. MAtrika should resign and then he can smash anybody he wants, thats the only language he seems to understand. But show some respect for law if u r minister, if u can break it, how will u punish others who WILL break it?

For every major transfer in Nepal, the bribe money goes from bottom, shakha adhikrit to top, secretary and sometimes minister. This is an open secret.

For every payment the contractor gives a certain sum( called pc) to people who range from accountant to secretary, and sometimes minister. Again an open secret.

For every tender, same process.

Corruption is SHAMEFULLY rampant in Nepal coz we live with it gracefully, coz we respect otrhers who have earned more money no matter how.HAMAAM MEIN SAB NANGEY HAIN YOU KNOW.

that's why I am saying if Matrika wants to do something good, change the system, or try to do so by setting an example by himself.If he does he will get plenty of support from all quarters.

Well I can say that it's great to have thoughtful people like you in Sajha who we all can learn a lot from. Thats why I decided to post comments rather than shying away just that someone will start abusing me for disagreeing with you.

Here on the Sajha too, I feel that some Maoist supporters are unnecessarily supporting and UML/NC supporters overly criticizing Matrika Yadav's action. Tara yaad garnu parne kuro ke ho bhane 'ma sabhya hu' bhanne haru nai yaha badi asabhya kaam gari raheka hunchhan ani aru sabai lai asabhya dekhchhan when they find some others doing even a mild inhuman thing. Matrika Yadav definitely mistreated Dandu Ghimire even if Ghimire was guilty or corrupt. But, I feel that those guys who are highly criticizing Matrika Yadav would have remained blind when their leaders such as Kum Bahadur Khadka or Sher Bahadur Deuba killed child looking from the windows from their houses, porterers walking on the street or some parties cadres killing other parties cadres in a mass meeting, etc. Killing somebody is most inhuman than locking somebody in a toilet; and Maoists and NC/UML all were involved in many forms of killing in the past. Chitta nabujhe ko kura ni yo ghatana lai liyera yaha sajha ma pani kati le rajnitik ranga dina khoji raheka chhan amanabiya bhayo bhanera; ra Nepal ma pani civil servants especially associated with UML/NC are making it an political issue sasying that it was inhuman.

Firsy of all let me state that I am not affiliated to any party or politics. So my views come from a very different perspective.

Everything u said is correct. But I wanna add something here.

No system is without flaws.So is democracy. As far as US is concerned it is widely criticized for its misdeeds all over the world and both Obama and McCain are saying they will close the facility. US lost it's respect for everything that u stated above BUT..this is also the country where Bill Clinton was impeached, mind u he was a president in power then. Do you know who broke the news about mistreatment of prisoners..US NEWS MEDIA .Here u have to go through a process. Supreme court just ruled that the prisoners are entitled to have defence lawyers in a civil court. A slap in the face of administration.The constitution now gives equal right to people from all race, sex, and national origin..though they might not follow it..but still u can drag them to court just for insulting you. The history is tainted by slavery and Jim crow but they have come through that and that's why u have Barack Obama, a person from Kenyan origin to be running for President.

Even India, it gained independence in 1947 I think roughly when we gained the so called prajatantra in 2007. They have had their share of flaws but there system has made them go from an occupied country to a almost superpower.

China, though a communist state is nowhere like N Korea, or Cuba..it has promoted free trade and is very much democratized from thet bull dozer operation in 1990s. They have had their superpoweresque growth only after they realized change was necessary.

Every system has flaws, but the best flawed system is democracy I believe where people like us can have our opinions expressed and heard.

The way I think is what if I was a civil servant and was locked in a toilet . If I was corrupt then call police, file charge against me, and take me to court.

As far as other people from other parties are concerned like various names u just mentioned, it's a shame that noone,,news media, public and anyone has made it an issue. They roam freely on the streets of Nepal and thats a shame on us. They had one scapegoat..the King..but now he is gone so now lets focus on making those people accountable for all the corruption they did over the years by some legal process.

Noone is guilty until proven. Prove it through fair trial and then punish the guilty as per prevalent law.

A person when takes an oath as a minister has responsibilities. If he proves Mr. ghimire is wrong, and takes him to court and the court punishes him I will be the first one to applaud him. But if he acts like a cop cum lawyer cum judge, that's inexcusable. Matrika Yadav could do a lot if his intentions are right. Only if he was in his sense.

 

When I first read about the nepali minister locking somebody in toilet in BBC website i was embarrassed. I wonder what the world will be thinking of us.

This was my first time to post on saja.I am regullar reader of this web.It was not sopposed  support any poltical party.I'm only giving my view.As a NEPALI  this was a verry embrassing news for we pepole.But on otherhand he did it for rightcause but it didinot mean that he was allowed  do any thing and he was avobe the lawThis things didnot mean big issuse for our maoist leaders bcuz they were practicing it  since last ten years but  for ordinonary pepole like us who stay far from  nation want hear better news..........    why Our poltical leaders didnot understant not only maoist  all of the leaders are responsible for this day............ And also somehow we pepole..............
