Just wanted to see how the distribution of US visitors would be and it is a little surprising. This tracker was set early yesterday morning and it's collecting data as we read. Could the data be any accurate indication of which states have the most density of Nepali population?

Yeah, good to know but it would be better to take such statistics on weekends when 'Sajha' is visited most to get dependable accuracy.

Just my thought !

Well I don't think so. that can't be assumed. Not at all.

TX - 15.80%???

that's why most of the sajha topics are HOT !

Being sajha's home ground, MA has only 5.95%? C'mmon SAN bro !

San,

It is pretty interesting.  My research is related to data mining.  I am thinking about some network analysis on the kurakani  posts.  I think there will be some interesting patterns (e.g., clusters of sajha users who respond to a given thread, influential sajha user based on the njumber of feeedbacks he/she gets).  I think you must be doing such analysis by yourself.  It will be interesting to know such patterns.

Thanks,

San, thanks for sharing it. That was something I was always curious of. Let's do some more analysis.

NY metro (NY, NJ, CT): 8.12%

DC metro (DC, MD, VA): 9.35%

Boston (MA): 5.93%

Total: 23.39%

Of course, this total also includes the population living outside the metro areas in the above states. Still, doesn't the NY metro area have the largest Nepali community in the US?

Adding to maalpaani's suggestion, I think it may be more accurate to observe during the entire week.

San Dai,

Thank you for sharing this information with us.

Are these percentages based on the number of times Sajha.com is accessed (be it through one computer or many) or does it only factor in each time a unique IP opens the site? If it's the former case, there could be many people who come to Sajha multiple times a day, hence making the collected statistics not very reliable in terms of supporting the hypothesis (Do the percentage of Sajha users in each state reflect, to a certain degree, the percentage of Nepali population in those respective states?). However, it is also worthy to note that if you limit the data collected based on unique IPs, multiple users accessing the site from schools, for example, would be considered a single user (due to the common IP address). Having said that, information collected would be much more reliable through this method, albeit a bit conservative.

Also, as mentioned above, data collected throughout the week would definitely be more reliable and meaningful.

Thanks again for sharing!

Well, why the number is big in Texas?
May be,
1. More number of Nepalese compared to other states. Cheap colleges, low living cost.
2. More free time to surf the internet because the work load is low. With 40 hours a week, you will be enjoying you life like nowhere else in the US, also saving quite a lot coz living is cheap down here.
3. More popn, more the problems. Now, where is the solution? Nepali community... Nepali pals.... Sabaiko SAJHA.COM

I think San, it is more like "which state has more Nepali student" and not the general population. There is no way NY can be below CA if we were to talk about population. So yea, most students in TX, CA and NY in order makes sense. I'm more surprised Colorado, Oklahoma and Minnesota did NOT make on the top.
By the way, who are these people visiting Sajha from "Satellite Provider","Asia/Pacific Region",Anonymous Proxy". LOL

Dregmi, 3.3% is not that bad considering the loadshedding hours, kaso?

If there were no loadshedding in Nepal, then too, the figure would be the same coz we lack resources. Very few have computers in their home and only a fraction of them would have internet access. Cyber ma kati jaanu paisa kharcha garera. Also who cares about sajha.com in Nepal? The thread in KURAKANI le uniharulai sametnna sakeko chha ra? We only talk about shits here.
