I want to know what is the best health insurance policy for students. I might need a surgery in near future, so just incase I need one I want to have insurance. If anyone has any idea about the best policy, please share. I am in Texas right now, to be specific Dallas.
Damn health care is expensive here(everywhere).

 1. Why do not you go back home and have the surgery?
 2. It is better to go to a government hospital and get it done. They will not reject the service. They will just send the bill. Pay it if you have  just pay it, or take the installment payment plan or just ignore it and let it go for the collection agency.

If you really want to take the health insurance I will recommend AETNA.

Hey dude. check with Atena. One of my fren had a surgery and that almost cost 25 k, but he paid just 100 dolor since insurance covered all the expenses. and off course he had an insurance from atena, but make sure that when the insurance policy get effected. coz most of the insurence policy has some time crietria  like the police will get effective only after a year since insurance has established. so check with the insurance policy, and they have different kind of plan for insurance policy so check with all different plan. if u need to do surgery withing 6 month like that, get a better plan and i think its bit expensive. so try to talk with the clerk in the insurance company.
Check the link and start from here and start with the zip code. and go ahead..

@applebahadur thanks for the suggestion. I don't have the option of going to Nepal right now. So, i was looking for the insurance over here.
@simpleman thanks for the suggestion. I got kinda lost when you said your friend paid only 100 bucks for the surgery that cost 25k. Don't they have copay or certain percentage of out of pocket costs too?? I never had insurance and its not my field of study too. So i am little confused.
I really appreciate you both guys for taking some time to give suggestions.

If you are thinking of having a surgery, then it is best to get a richer plan--like HMO or PPO--from a major insurance company. You may have to pay higher premiums but you do not want the service to be not covered when you need one.

HMO--depending on Plans, you probably do not have any co-pays, coinsurance, and deductible. The premiums could be high though. But you have to have a PCP to refer you to specialisits. So, I imagine you will probably have to be referred by a PCP for your surgery.

PPO-similar to HMO but gives you freedom to choose any provider in-network. You do not have to be referred for any services--you can directly go to  specialists. But the premium for PPO is higher since you have more freedom in PPO than in HMO. But you may also have some copay, deductible, and coinsurance.

You should see which best fits your need and select the one that gives you the most value.
