Guys

I'm on TPS with EAD. I graduated last year and chose to go the TPS route and not the OPT route.

I found a good job through TPS EAD, but TPS is not permanent and it may not be renewed for all I know.

Can I change my status to H1B. I have never been out of status, that is, I maintained F1 status until graduation and then chose TPS instead of OPT.

Were you selected in H1 Lottery this year? I would rather plan on having the company apply for gc than hope for h1, if you are planning it for next year.

You working on TPS EAD and with that you want to change it to H1b. Not sure how's that going to play. What is your status in between period of F1 and H1b (Which you are going to apply in next April)?

@maxpayne: you didn't understand my question, I think I'm pretty sure.

@stateofnepal: So I applied for TPS a month before graduation and got my TPS/EAD 2 months after I graduated. Soon after I got my TPS/EAD, I got a job as a programmer for a small software company. I've been there a few months now and would like to get some sort of "permanent status," as opposed to a "temporary status." Yes, I would like to apply next April, but I don't know if it will work out the way I have imagined it. Is reentry an option?

Reentry on H1b (if you are selected next year) or on F1.. After you get permanent status, request them to start your GC right away..

Looking at Haiti and other natural disaster case ,I think TPS will be extended.. Yes, you can apply H1b.. H1b has nothing to do with TPS.TPS is backup. Suppose ,if TPS is not extended in Oct 2016 ,what are your plans .Go back and come once H1b is approved?

@edipre Yes, I plan on going back to Nepal, if TPS is not extended. I'm also thinking about moving to Canada : )

TPS gives you basis to apply for H1B. Your employer can also apply for GC while you are on TPS.
