The Ankeny Police Department has identified the victim and suspect in a fatal stabbing.
Anna Sharma, 41, of Ankeny, died after being stabbed at a residence in the 1300 block of N.W. Reinhart Drive around 2 a.m. Saturday, March 14, according to a news release from the Ankeny Police Department.
A police investigation determined that BK Sitoula, 42, unlawfully entered the residence and fatally stabbed Sharma before attempting to take his own life. He was transported to a metro-area hospital in critical condition.
Sitoula died Tuesday, March 17 from self-inflicted injuries, according to the release. With his death, Ankeny police do not anticipate criminal charges.
Sharma and Sitoula were previously married, according to the release.
The family of Sharma has requested privacy as they grieve, and no further information will be shared at this time, according to the release.
