Hi dear friends! I got the job on september and I joined. My Opt is expiring on december 31, 2006. And I went to the Lawyer and he said that I cannot file for H1b because there is no visa available. Now what should i do. I am screwing up. Should I join college and get i-20.

If you joined from the Indian Consulting firm you can ask them to pay you with cash while still working. They might refuse to do so till next october because its a long time. I have seen people with similar problem as yours but with less time, maybe couple of months and they get paid with cash and resume the pattern again once the h1b is confirmed. However, I strongly suggest you to join college or maybe kaplan might fit your needs if you are not planning to complete the college degree and would like to stay in status for sometime before you start working again. I think its a 6 month session which should give you ample time to secure you h1. Hope it helps you.
