Newfellow

you are lucky to get both us greencard and canadian Pr

Khie aafu le H1 apply garya aagie aako chahina

Ani canada ko Pr ni apply garya ho tyo aaunu kahile kahile

by the way i would prefer US

I think more jobs more oppertunity in US than  Canada

Ani U need  to stay 2 yrs out of 5 for your Pr to Validate hola in case of canada

Almost impossible to meet residency requirements of both, US 6 months per year, and Canada 2 years in 5.

Haribansa and new fellow,

can you live 3 years out of 5 years in canada to get a canadian citizen while keeping your greencard in US? If you answer Yes then you can keep both your legal status and if you answer NO then thats your final answer.....

 Hello Haribansa Ji

I applied my Canadian PR a year ago as backup to US GC. Fortunately, my US GC and Canadian PR both got approved at same time. I already have US GC in my hand however I still need to land Canada for my PR card.

As Himalaya178, mentioned above, it is almost impossible to maintain both sides' PR. I went through couple of immigration web sites and forums. Honestly, different people have different views, whether you can keep both PR or not.

However, if you go through USCIS web sites

 (http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=fe17e6b0eb13d010VgnVCM10000048f3d6a1RCRD&vgnextchannel=4f719c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD) Maintaining Permanent Residence section,

The first clause clearly says, you are not supposed to move permanently to different country intending to become permanent residence. However, it does not say whether you are allowed to have PR from different country.

If you ask me my personal view -

I have already booked my ticket to Buffalo, NY and planning to cross border on the same day. As per my visa, I have to be in Canada by June 12th. I am doing this to be in a safe side. Because; I heard a humor that you cannot quit your sponsoring company, at least for 6 months even if you have GC card in your hand.

I am still waiting for some good suggestions.

Thanks

i can't believe some people have such silly problems. so why do you want to keep your canadian green card now anyway? do you think Aliens will come in their spaceship and take over usa and you need to have canadian green card entact or something? why don't you get over with the sillypropblems and enjoy your life now you have a green card and a decent job... you've wasted half of your life already worrying to about these things..now enjoy man.. forget about canadian gc... once you've a us citizen you can always go to canada anyway...

oh ya, btw, a friend of mine filed for a " no entry" permit and was able to leave for 2 years maintaining his green card status.. if tat helps you
