They will only allow you to work after october .. And during our OPT your are only allowed to work related to Study. They might put you in trouble and question you later on when they find you working in gas station or motel . It is better not to work in gas station using SS n ...

since last year i.e. 2008 if there is any gap between the F1 and H1 start date of OCT. it has been automatically bridged by USCIS ruling. for more information check the link below. http://www.dhs.gov/xlibrary/assets/press_opt_ifr.pdf

thank you "nned help2009" and "thapap" i have seen many students using ssn to work even going to school (obviously it is illegal) but got away with their H1 and GC too....where can it hamper ?
