It was brought into my attention that H1-B can't earn extra money. Is that right? If I am in H1-B and working for company A, can I work online and make extra money? When I searched about this online, I found lot of H1-B are writing blogs and earning money as a extra money. Please shed some lights on this topic what you think or more importantly what is true?

You can 'not work' and get paycheck from anybody other  than your employer.

However, I believe, you can make investments and earn profits.

or work for cash... I did it for long-time .

How about running a blog with adsense and getting money from Google? :(

You can not run adsense .. Google needs your SSN and other info (for Tax record) before it sends you a payment..

I am close sith an F-1 who receives (direct deposit) a few hundreds in a year from Adsense for domains. I never imagined it as "extra work". It sounds illegal that way.

Thanks all for input. But I read somewhere that you could earn passive income like stock or investing in business and make profit. Adsense is really not a work. For me it sounded like passive income. Still love to hear from other users.

 I don't know the law but my understanding was

'you can only work for your sponsor '

buy stocks (but NO day trading), make money from adsense, CJ or linkshare, pyramid business as Amway, buy a commercial property as gas station and make extra income...(as long has you keep you 'status') and Pay Tax

I have not found a single person having problem duing GC due to those extra income. I may be wrong.

Sorry can't answer your question. But, can you please share some way to earn money online. Paiso le alik garo parla jasto bhayeko chha, yeso goji kharcha aaunthyo ki!
