hi all, any of you know of some good reward/ cash back generating credit cards without the annuals fees? the ccs ive looked at so far have $ .01 for each point or $100 for 10,000 points. Just wondering if there might be better ccs. Thank-you for the help!
PS. one dollar spent = one point received.

Apply chase freedom card. You get 20000 points or $200 dollars if you spend $500 within 3 months of opening the card. On the top of that they run rewards program every 3 months which enable card holders to acquire 5 points per one dollar spend on stipulated catogory. LIke this quarter they have promotion where you can receive 5 points per dollar spend on Amazon.com or gas station. Also no annual fee.

try blue sky from american express if you fly frequently. you get $100 credit for every 7500 points and $1=1 point. so that means for every $7500 worth of transaction, you get $100 credit if you use your card to purchase flight ticket. this means, you spend $2500 less than chase freedom or most of the other ccs to earn $100 rewards. points never expire, no blackout dates and you can use your points to get credit on any flight tickets, domestic or international. on top of that there's no annual fee.
i always accumulate points and redeem it when i go back to nepal. in two yrs, i earn decent amount of rewards. i've yet to find a better credit card that this one.
goodluck!

American Express Cash have some rewards. It's like 3% for supermarkets, 2% for gas stations and 1% for everything else.. but also chase freedom is my best.

Thanks for all the help! I am planning on closing my other credit card which i used throughout college, but I've heard that closing a credit card with that much history wipes out all the history and is not recommended. how much truth is there to this statement? Do i just leave it open and never use it?

Don't close your oldest card. Older credit is good for credit history.

@rajmani, ask your friend which credit card company is that.. if it is chase, being authorized user wont do any good to your credit history, but if it is american express, it might help you a little bit. Coming to the point, if you have to use your social security number to be the authorized user, it mite help, else it wont at all

If you're looking for a credit card with a travel rewards program, American Express Blue Sky is for you. It has much more to offer than just the rewards program. Some of the incentives can be used to book a flight anytime, which make Blue Sky more significant. Advance bookings and shorter-distance trips give AMEX holders real worth for their dollars. Here is the article: American Express Blue Sky.

I used Chase SouthWest card which gives you 50000 points (when i got it , it was worth $833, now its worth 714) for spending 2000$ in first 3 months. This is far better than any 100-200$ cash back bonus on cards. Only drawback is SouthWest is not as cheap as it used to be and they dont fly from everywhere to everywhere like american/delta. Just considering rewards, any chase card is good, never had amex and discover comes in second as far as i know. Credit cards from BOA and wells Fargo sucks in reward program.

best for me i would have to say is 'amazon chase' card which i use for amazon and i get back 5%, 2% on gas all 12 months. another is 'discover it' card which has its 5% back on different items quarterly. but interesting part in this card is once you accumulate $20 worth of rewards then you can redeem for many popular store gift cards worth $25, $30, sometimes even more. 1% on everything on both these like almost every single these days. both these have no annual fees. best of luck!

Have you tried Bankamericard? It's BofA's reward card, which rewards consumers for paying their regular monthly bills instead of spending. BankAmericard Better Balance Rewards card targets consumers with lower incomes and fair-to-poor credit, speculates the Los Angeles Times. Read this here: Credit Card Rewards.

Chase sapphire preferred and US airways offer 40k points (equivalent to 400 bucks) and 50k miles (equivalent to RT to Europe or a one-way business class flight). You can always downgrade CSP card within a year to avoid paying annual fee of 95 bucks (waived for the first year) and get away with it. Both cards will require you to spend 3k within 3 months upon approval. To see if you have a chance of qualifying for either. Check your score at creditkarma.com. Your score should reflect your chances.

I just started using Discover IT card, quarterly 5% cash back plus shopDiscover features gives you 10-15% with major online retailer. Just cashed $190 for my blackfriday shopping. Its a decent credit card and pays you back lot if you are online shopping savvy person.
